While shopping for families in need during the 2014 holiday season, HFCF volunteers Kristie Kane and Marybeth Walz met Jen Bowens, a 23 year old single mom. When Jen, a worker at Babies R Us, heard about HFCF’s Mission to help children in our community she immediately wanted to get involved and volunteer.
Through their correspondence, Kristie found out that Jen is a single mom who supports her 5 year old son by herself. We learned that Jen spends almost 1/3 of her income on taxi service to take her son to school, sporting events and to get to and from work. This past Saturday, HFCF Partnered with Lester Glenn Hyundai and surprised Jen with a car to help make her life a little easier.
